    What are the eligibility requirements?

    01.Skilled Worker Stream:

    • Valid full-time job offer in NWT (NOC TEER 0–3)
    • 1+ year of experience in related field
    • Language test: CLB 6 or 7 (based on occupation)
    • Required education/credentials for the job
    • Proof of licensing/registration (if applicable)
    • Sufficient funds to live in NWT
    • Legal status in Canada (if applying from inside)

    02.Critical Impact Worker Stream:

    • Full-time job offer in semi-skilled role (TEER 4–5)
    • 6 months of work experience with the same NWT employer
    • Language test: Minimum CLB 4
    • Proof of high school or equivalent
    • Adequate financial support
    • Valid work permit at time of application

    03.Express Entry Stream:

    • Must be in IRCC Express Entry pool
    • Meet requirements of Skilled Worker Stream
    • Have a valid Express Entry profile number
    • Get 600 bonus CRS points if nominated

    04.Business Stream:

    • Invest minimum CAD $300,000 (if in Yellowknife) or $150,000 (outside)
    • Minimum net worth of CAD $500,000 (Yellowknife) or $250,000 (outside)
    • Submit detailed business plan
    • Commit to active business management
    • Create at least one local job
    • Language: CLB 4 minimum

    What are the required documents?

    • Valid passport (biographical page and travel history)
    • Educational credentials (degrees, diplomas, transcripts)
    • Language test results (IELTS/CELPIP – must meet CLB level)
    • Work experience proof (reference letters, pay slips, employment contracts)

    • Police clearance certificates
    • Medical exam (post-nomination for PR application)
    • Proof of settlement funds (bank statements)
    • Photographs (passport size as per IRCC format)

    Skilled Worker & Critical Impact Worker Stream

    • Job offer letter from a NWT employer
    • Employer’s business license
    • Labour Market Impact Assessment (if applicable)
    • Proof of relevant work experience (minimum 6 months to 1 year)
    • Employer-completed application forms
    • Proof of legal status in Canada (if already in-country)
    • Regulatory licensing (if required by job role)

    Express Entry Stream

    All Skilled Worker documents plus:

    • Valid Express Entry profile number
    • Job Seeker Validation Code

    Business Stream

    • Personal net worth statement
    • Audit or verification of funds by a third-party accounting firm
    • Detailed business plan
    • Investment proof (once nominated)
    • Resume showing business or managerial experience
    • Exploratory visit report (optional but recommended)

    What is the process for North West Territory immigration?

    01.Get a Job Offer:

    • Secure a valid, full-time job offer from an eligible employer in the Northwest Territories.
    • Employer must be registered and in good standing in NWT.

    02.Gather Required Documents:

    • Collect all necessary documents:Passport, education, work experience, language test, proof of funds, etc.

    03.Employer Submits Application:

    • Employer completes and submits the NTNP Employer Application Form along with supporting documents.
    • The applicant (you) also fills in the Candidate Application Form.

    04.NTNP Reviews Application:

    • The NWT government reviews:
      • Job offer
      • Applicant’s qualifications
      • Compliance with language and experience criteria
    • Processing time varies, but applications are reviewed based on quota availability (only 150 nominations for 2025).

    05.Nomination Issued:

    • If approved, you receive a Provincial Nomination Certificate.
    • You can then apply for Permanent Residency (PR) through IRCC.

    06.Apply for Permanent Residency:

    • Submit your PR application to IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).
    • Include your nomination certificate.
    • Processing time: typically 6–12 months (faster with Express Entry).

    07.Land in Canada:

    • Once approved, receive your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR).
    • You can now settle in the Northwest Territories with full PR rights.

    After visa approval

    Receive Nomination Certificate

    • You’ll get an official Nomination Certificate from the Government of Northwest Territories.
    • This allows you to apply for Permanent Residency (PR) with the federal government (IRCC).

    Apply for Permanent Residency (PR)

    • Submit your full PR application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
    • If you were nominated through Express Entry, update your profile and receive +600 CRS points to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
    • If you’re applying through paper-based process, submit to the appropriate visa office.

    Acknowledge Letter & Medical/Police Checks

    • You’ll receive an Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) from IRCC.
    • You’ll be asked to complete:
      • Medical Examination
      • Police Clearance Certificates
      • Biometrics

    Wait for PR Decision

    • IRCC processes your PR application.
      • Express Entry stream
      • Paper-based stream

    Receive Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR)

    Once approved, IRCC issues your COPR and PR visa (if outside Canada).

    Travel and Land in NWT

    • Land in Canada and inform the border officer you’re settling in the Northwest Territories.
    • You may need to report to NWT immigration office as part of compliance.
